Backbone Graphics
About the Project
Backbone Graphics is an action sports apparel and graphics brand I created in 2023 as a side project. After using the iPad's Procreate app to design 2D bike graphic concepts for nearly a year, I decided to take it further and move the 2D designs into actual printed vinyl decals. The Backbone Graphics shop launched shortly afterward, with the brand's first iteration offering pre-designed graphics kits and custom design services.

Process & Results
The process involved learning how to create bold and unique bike graphics kits for the recreational audience, therefore targeting a niche in custom graphics that has yet to be fully explored. I addressed specific challenges, including readjusting the template's contours for a better fit and discovering how to design three-dimensional, full-size graphics that complement the bike's contours. I partnered with a local printer specializing in vehicle wraps and learned about the material properties, printing processes, and adhesives.
I designed a compelling visual identity to accompany Backbone Graphics' brand. The logo was designed to appear bold, adventurous, yet clean. Simultaneously, I constructed an e-commerce site to sell the graphic kits. The result was a Big Cartel® online store featuring pre-designed graphics kits, fully custom graphics kits, jersey and race kit designs, and full-service graphic and web design services.
